Juglans Regia is a Latin term that translates to "Royal Nut of Jupiter", with Juglans meaning nut and Regia meaning royal. The tree is native to the region that now makes up Iran, and was commonly found in ancient Persia. It was highly regarded for its nuts, which were considered to be a symbol of fertility and were often used in fertility rituals. Over time, the tree was introduced to other regions of the world, including Europe and North America, where it became a popular ornamental and nut-producing tree. Today, it is commonly known as the English walnut or Persian walnut.

Walnuts are rich in a-linolenic acid, which is an omega-3 fatty acid. This nutrient has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and breast cancer. Additionally, walnuts have anti-inflammatory properties that can help alleviate joint pain in individuals suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Moreover, they have been found to be useful in treating prostate tumors.

In the past, the bark and leaves of the walnut tree were used to treat a variety of skin conditions, such as herpes, eczema, ulcers, and scrofulous diseases, which are diseases resembling or caused by tuberculosis of the lymph glands. The husks and leaves of the tree were also used to treat worms, and the juice of the green husks was gargled with honey to relieve sore mouths or throats. The skin coating the kernel was dried and powdered and used to treat colic. Additionally, the seed oil was used to treat colic and skin conditions externally. It was also referred to as vegetable arsenic because it was used to treat skin conditions that were otherwise treated with arsenic.

Walnut relates to the soul qualities of a new beginning and of unaffectedness.

The Walnut remedy has the characteristic of an embryonic womb. It constantly protects us from unnecessary distracting influence and nurtures us with inner guidance to help us follow our chosen path and ambitions alongside it.

Dr Bach first prepared the Walnut remedy in a friend’s garden in Sotwell during 1935. We take this remedy when we feel that sometimes our outside influence is distracting us from our own path. Walnut is often used at time of change, as well, when we feel we are slow to adapt to new circumstances.
