Aspen bark is sometimes yellow-green due to the presence of chlorophyll the magnesium containing pigment which harvests the energy the energy necessary for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis occurs in the inner bark and varies seasonally. It is most important during periods when there are no leaves.
Aspen is a very efficient photosynthesiser and the trembling may prevent too much sunlight reaching the leaves where it could inhibit photosynthesis. Alternatively, it may maximise the supply of carbon and so allow photosynthesis to occur.
Aspen typically grows in damp conditions and the fluttering leaves may cause excess moisture to be evaporated. At the bottom of each leaf blade there are tow small blade cups containing resin and these catch and absorb water, help maintaining water balance.
Dr Bach first prepared the Aspen remedy close to Wallingford during the year 1935. Aspen is related to soul potentials of fearlessness, overcoming and resurrection. We take Aspen when we
feel apprehensive and uneasy-even terrified-without being able to give any definite reson for the feeling.
The images below show the Aspen tree during the spring season with its bright green leaves. When looking closely at the bark it looks a bit weak and is very flaky. This represents the shadow tendency of the remedy when an Aspen person is scared and weak, unwilling to overcome their unknown fears.
The top two images show the Aspen tree during the Autumn season, which is when its leaves turn yellow due to the lack of its chlorophyll and photosynthesis caused by the weather and lack of sunshine. The bottom 2 pictures shows the flower of the Aspen tree in a zoomed-in aspect.
