If ingested this causes a burning sensation in the mouth and throat, mouth ulcers, abdominal pain and nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Clematis is also called Beggar’s plant as beggars intentionally rubbed the leaves of clematis to purposefully cause blisters and ulcers on their skin so that onlookers would feel sympathy and pity for them, which they believed would lead them to earn more money. The other names for this plant which are Smokewood and Boy’s bacca is earned as the dried winter stems of clematis was used as a substitute for tobacco to some by the poor who could not afford such luxuries. The many creative uses of Clematis represent the wholeness of a Clematis person being creative and making use of what they have by thinking.

Comparison between other flowers
Agrimony:
People who have the shadow tendency of Agrimony cover their misery by displaying a facade of cheerfulness and unlike clematis, they seek companionship of others to relieve their distress and dislike being alone while Clematis prefers to be alone so that they can fantasize or be lost in thoughts.
Impatiens:
Impatiens people tend to be eager for a new day while an average clematis person might be fearing the next day and will be wishing how good it would be just to sleep all day long. Dr Bach mentions that Impatiens personality is an antithesis to the Clematis personality.
Vervain:
Vervain personality is the complete opposite of Clematis as they tend to be more alert and over-enthusiastic about the present, bringing burdens to themselves and other peers surrounding them.
